I've been bringing my work laptop home this past entire week, and now that it's Friday, all I want to do is go home, get some proper rest, and do Dreamwidth stuff.

So I was fighting with myself, trying to decide whether I wanted to bring my laptop home again this weekend and I actually started this entry intending to ask you guys to help me decide. But ... man. No! I don't care! I won't!

I won't get anything done anyway, and it'll just be there making me feel guilty.

SO I AM HAVING FUN THIS WEEKEND GUYS. (For values of fun which involve lying curled up with my laptop doing code stuff/ chat. Which is to say, very much ;-))

13:08:53 — @iruka11 yes!
13:29:04 — @gameboyguy13 chocolate for dinner! sounds like a reasonable choice
13:36:51 — @teshiron sorry!
13:37:37 — @gameboyguy13 I've been overruled, I'm afraid. Chocolate good! Proper dinner good! Chocolate for dinner bad! (Is what I should really say)
16:31:28 — @afuna_wired I can't think of any, actually, off the top of my head. Hehe. I just assumed there was one
16:32:28 — @azurelunatic hi azz! welcome home, glad you're safe
22:55:38 — @Starshadow oh no :( *sends hugs*

21:10:28 — @Starshadow Oh man, that's a good way to get it. I got the punchlines, but not the humor. Heee :)
21:58:53 — @omgaeula Yeah. But it's okay, I have HIMYM to make me happy, geeky or otherwise :)

Productive weekend! Have 18 patches by me in the review queue, though some of them I did earlier last week. Focused on the blocking-launch bugs this weekend; picked up nine of the ones that were yet unclaimed (one of them I will need to submit a second patch for). A couple of other things caught my eye in the process, and I filed a bug for those, and submitted a patch for a couple.

Also asked a few questions to clarify some things that were confusing me, and they're all answered now, so I may be able to do a second run-through through the blocking-launch queue and pick up a couple more bugs (or someone else can pick them up, that works for me!)

I am excited. My mom is going to the US to visit my grandmother and see some of her sisters, and this means that I can order technical books and have her take them home. I thought about it a bit, and I really want these three books:

* Programming Perl
* Mastering Perl
* Perl Best Practices

I would have been happy with one, but O'Reilly has a promo where you can buy two and get one free, and my resolve cracked (THREE IS MY HAPPY NUMBER). I also briefly considered switching one out to get the Perl Cookbook but the cookbook is of the more expensive variety, and also, I could not decide which of the first three I could bear to switch out. [info] - personaldenny assures me that the knowledge I have absorbed of Perl from poking around means that I can skip Learning Perl, which is good -- one less book to need to buy. I am sweating at the thought of the price, as it is. It's... urgh. It's a lot of money.

But guys, guys, I just bought books. Eeeeh. I hit the buy button and everything and they're now on their way!

(I've been tempted to buy these books before, and have them shipped to my country, but the price of world-wide shipping for three books is $39.48, almost as much as another book! "Almost", here, being a difference of 50 cents)

Anyway, anyway, I'm just so happy and excited. It's the first time that I've tried to order a book from overseas. I have a few technical books which I scavenged from a sale (also my textbooks that I bought for my university courses *grin* I should go look at the Unix Network Programming one again, for kicks), but on the whole I have too few books related to my field. This is the first time I'm buying a technical book that I actively hunted for/want/need, instead of just stumbled upon.

My face right now: ^_________^

09:23:00 — @DanielEfton (innuendo, but close nuff!)
09:23:16 — @exor674 \o/!
09:24:12 — @mayerman I am dying laughing at that video. First screen says "For people who love muscles" -- ya THINK?
16:41:29 — @teshiron yeah, best not, I think ;-) *erases wall of TMI TEXT*
18:05:37 — @omgaeula but why avoid slash? D:
18:11:15 — @omgaeula I am a slow bloomer *nods*
18:15:57 — @omgaeula oh right! Good luck with the boards. The slash will still be there this time next week ;-)
19:01:40 — @teshiron I did, and I even removed my custom :set lcs settings (which highlights tabs and trailing whitespace).
19:02:25 — @teshiron still cannot see any ^M; have tried typing in ctrl+M, too, but nothing even with :set list on.
19:03:38 — @omgaeula *grins* Yeah. I'm reading Pushing Daisies fic right now; all short so far, not much long fic (so not quite timesuck)
19:56:57 — @omgaeula it is *amazing*, I love it. I think, based on what I've seen of your tastes, you'll enjoy it too!

Really simple script for you guys today: Support: Summary in Title.

That appends the the request summary into the window title which lets you the request summary show up in your browser history. Meaning, you can just type in a partially remembered request summary in your browser address bar, and it'll (hopefully) pop up the URL to the request you're thinking of.

Works on Dreamwidth and LiveJournal. (Note that it may be conflicting with some other scripts? I had to drag it to the beginning of my list in the Greasemonkey settings for it to work on LiveJournal)

I am resisting the urge to see how easy it would be to convert an extension, which works in FF2 but doesn't in FF3, to use Jetpack.

I had in mind Delicious Complete, as the only relatively simple non-FF3-compatible extension I'm aware of. It seems so easy, especially if I can just use the jQuery plugins!

Unfortunately (or fortunately), I find myself unable to decide how to include said plugins (I could copy and paste, or reference remotely using $.getScript, both of which have advantages and disadvantages, and I cannot decide!)

Resisting urge to code. Resistance weak. Maybe I should look through my extensions to see which ones say they're incompatible with the version of Firefox I'm using, and try rewriting the simpler ones out of curiosity.

I'm playing around with Jetpack. Probably won't have time to write any scripts, but one demo, in particular, caught my eye.

Tab Grapher: it shows you a graph of the number of tabs you have open in your browser over time.

ETA: They also have an ad-blocker, written in approximately 100 lines. I'm trying it out of curiosity (I've never used an ad-blocker before, though). Hmmm, now I'm fighting the urge to extend it to store the number of times that I block an ad on any site.

(What's stopping me is that I can't decide between counting the number of times a particular ad is blocked, or the number of ads on a particular site)
