Damnit. I think my hard drive just failed. That's the second one in two months.

I don't know, though I think that the two instances of failure were caused by two separate things (and a ton of bad luck meeeh)

One was wear and tear which led to mechanical failure. Also possibly too much heat lead to more wear and tear?
The other one I'm not sure, but the problem is showing up as bad sectors.

true true. sir coronel once said that the hard drive heats up enough to fry an egg.
apple macbooks are prone daw to this damage since there were early reports of macs being too hot to put on your lap (somewhere in those reviews before)
