beer

Entire class went out last night to eat dinner and drink. Went for the dinner, left before the actual heavy drinking session :P

Had a glass of beer last night (my first). I think that I actually prefer beer to wine -- beer is a bit sour, but wine is bitter, which I hate. The only other alcoholic drink I've had more than a sip of is vodka ice which I've been assured is pretty much like juice. Alcoholic content only 5% or something like that, but my face was bright red after just a bottle. I think that beer has about the same amount of alcohol, but it doesn't seem to affect me as much (or maybe I just didn't drink as much).

The beer tasted all right at first, but towards the bottom of the glass, the taste seemed to become stronger, and I couldn't stand it any more.

I'm vaguely amused at how solicitous everyone was. Maybe my face did turn red.

Yeah, eight years after I became legal to drink alcohol in the states and I still don't like most of it, much to the distress of my oenophile parents. Believe me, I am all about the icewines. And ports. And muscats. I don't really have the tolerance to even get mixed drinks at restaurants and bars anymore unless i'm splitting it with the boy, but if you find general wine and beer sour, try dessert wines. :)

Beer sucks flat-out (at least in my admittedly very limited experience). Wine is okay if you get one of the white wines that aren't too dark, or if you mix it with cranberry juice. Everything tastes better with cranberry juice, really.

But if you're going to be drinking? Go for the fruity girly drinks. The things that are like half fruit juice, half hard liquor. Those are great, and a lot of the time you can't even taste the alcohol. (The downside is that these are often higher in alcohol content since the hard liquor is more potent.)

IAWTC. Wine coolers are great for this. And there are plenty of sweet wines, especially the dessert wines that are so sugary that just inhaling them could cause you to develop diabetes. XD Let's just say that those are anything but bitter. ;)

I never could stand beer myself either. I think the one exception was something that had a strong malty flavor (can't remember if it was Guinness or something else).
